Last week we looked at the values and what they are. I hope you now have a better idea of what values are. But now, what does it mean for your life?
I’m going to get a bit personal here. I place a high value on fun, friends and family, trust/integrity, humor and loyalty. I guess you might say that these are the things I would leave a job or relationship over; these are my non-negotiables.
When I am looking at my priorities and setting my schedule, I always ask myself how each and every choice I make aligns with my values. There are times where one value gets shifted or put to the side because of other priorities. That’s okay. My most important values are never shifted off the page. But they can be re-prioritized based on life’s circumstances.
When I am not honoring a value, I end up out of balance. It happens to everyone. When my buttons get pushed and I can feel myself getting upset, it often means that a situation is challenging my values.
Last week I had to review and think about some of your values. It’s important to know what they are and have them in your mind with every decision you make, whenever you make time choices, business decisions and what to do over the weekend. Keeping your values at the front of your life and your decision-making process will make life easier, make you happier and healthier and quite possibly, free up emotional energy to spend on your most important values.
