Harry Potter Leads the Way

According to the AFP News Service, “”Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2,” broke single-day box office records with a whopping $92.1 million in opening day sales, according to industry tracker Exhibitor Relations.” And according to the Associated Press, the final movie in the Potter series grossed $169.2 million domestically on its opening weekend. I take great pride in playing a small, but early role with the launch of the Harry Potter book series. Looking back, none of us could have predicted what an amazing phenomenon Harry’s journey has become.

But while working with Scholastic, I had the great fortune of seeing and living within Harry’s world.

In fact, I have even developed a workshop around the 12 leadership lessons from Harry Potter. Outside of the workshop, I have written about the leadership lessons before and presented a webinar which you can watch for free on YouTube.

One of the greatest lessons I have taken from Harry Potter is that leadership is a collaborative process. We all have to support and challenge each other to get the most out of each and every endeavor we take on. And once we are a cohesive unite, we celebrate our successes and we treat mistakes as opportunities to learn and do better the next time.

What lessons will you be taking from Harry Potter?
