He helps executives to lead more effectively, as well as to develop a powerful personal vision and brand identity. Alan also helps individuals who are changing course to find that inner core of strength and balance in order to more effectively seize opportunity.
For much of his career, Alan has specialized in publicizing arts organizations and media companies, most recently serving as the director of communications for The Broadway League, the national trade association for the commercial theatre industry, leading the crisis communications team during the Broadway stagehands’ strike. As director of corporate training and development for Scholastic, the international children’s media company, he led numerous organizational development/change initiatives and built the company’s management training curriculum from the ground up.
At Scholastic, Alan was also director of publicity, where he served on the marketing team for the acclaimed Harry Potter book series. At both Serino Coyne, and Rogers and Cowan public relations, as vice president, he supervised public relations and cultural sponsorship activities, and worked with many arts organizations nationwide, including museums, performing arts institutions, regional theaters and dance companies. At Robinson Lehrer Montgomery, also as vice president, he led consumer publicity campaigns for United Airlines and AOL’s “Find a Job” service.
Alan holds a B.A. in English and Theatre from Connecticut College, and an MBA from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business, where his focus was leadership development. He is a Master Practitioner of the “Energy Leadership” assessment tool, which is an indicator of an individual’s leadership potential (energyleadership.com).
He received his professional coach training from IPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, where he also serves as Media Specialist and Associate Trainer. He is an accredited member of the International Coach Federation (and is one of only 5,000 Associate Certified Coaches in the world) and the Public Relations Society of America (and its prestigious Counselors Academy). He also serves as a PRSA Career Expert.
